A Special Anniversary and a Baptism!

Tait Pinch had a birthday last week and is now my favorite 8 year old in the whole world!  And he has decided to be baptized Saturday September 3rd at 11:00 am.  I'm so excited for him and can't wait to be there on his special day.  If anyone else can make it up there I'm sure he and his family would love it.

Tait is such a sweet boy.  I love how kind he is to everyone and how he is always so polite.  You'll never find a kid with better manners.  And he is very smart too.  He recently shared all sorts of neat things with me that he has learned in his science class at school.

That weekend will be extra special because Tait also shares it with his Grandma & Grandpa Erickson!

It's Uncle Gary and Auntie Carol's 40th Wedding Anniversary!  They look so young that you'd only guess it was their 25th.  I know they have a camping trip planned and look forward to spending the weekend with family.

One thing that I have always loved and appreciated about Uncle Gary & Auntie Carol is the importance they place on family. They always make great effort to attend all family events.  They are also so kind and welcoming whenever anyone goes up to Cherry Grove.

I hope you two have a wonderful weekend full of fun and family.

We Love you guys!

Cambria's First Birthday!

I need to apologize for taking so long to
update everyone, but i hope you enjoy! Cambria (and Uncle Brent) Celebrated a Birthday on July 12! Cambria turned ONE! Uncle Brent blew out a few more candles than that.. Brie is such a water baby, so we knew just a few guests and a cool pool would do the trick!

We played with some balloons and laughed hysterically when one popped!

Opened some presents, and were sure to tear any paper around into a billion microscopic pieces!

Ate some yummy cupcakes!

Looked cute!

Stuffed our faces some more!
We finished the day in the most perfect way for our little girl; In the pool!

It amazes me to think that the baby girl above, only days old, grew into such a remarkable toddler.

Cambria, or as you will affectionately hear us call her, "Monkey", is so incredibly filled with light, and wonder, and love. It's interesting to see her "little" personality develop. She has a fond likeness for cats, cheese, pools, my Tupperware, and her Daddy. She loves everyone, and always has a hug and a kiss to share. I love that she is learning who her family is and visibly lights up when Colin walks through the door. I feel so blessed that she chose Colin and I to be her Daddy and Mommy. We sure love her, especially Grandpa Herrell and Grandpa Lillie, who she has safely wrapped around her little pinky. It's unbelievable really, how much this little girl has taught our family about... so many things! (Babies are born without kneecaps, if you buy Children's Advil for your 10 month old baby, you will get your child high, Blueberries; That one food your child will actually eat, for every meal, that will subsequently ruin every cute and expensive outfit they come in contact with...) In all sincerity though, the first time the nurse places that little baby in your arms, you instantly make it your own personal mission to light up the World. To love deeper than you ever have, to play more, to try everything, to hurt no one, and to exceed even your own expectations. It's magical really, being a parent.
Making the decision to have a child is momentous.  It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.  ~Elizabeth Stone

The Lillie family update

This is a wonderful idea, now we need to use it.  Carol gently reminded me that Kathryn's graduation photos were the only contribution from the Lillie's.   To me, that needs no explanation, as every parent of  a graduating teen knows, that is all consuming and nothing else in life matters.  We have managed to move on though and summer has  been fun already.

In July we had a gathering in Medicine Hat with all of us.  Colin was ordained to be an Elder in the Melchizedek Priesthood.  He and Brittney and Cambria will be sealed in the Cardston Temple in September.  Britt has invitations almost ready. We are happy for their little family.  Brittney and Cambria came to see us in Spruce Grove while Colin was away at work last week.  Cambria is such a doll, she loves to laugh and hug grandma.  She and Trenton have fun together.   Her hair seems to be Trenton's biggest interest..

It is fun working with Kathryn at the orthodontist office.  I often hear her laughter coming from the lab/back clinic.  I'm glad she is getting this experience.  She had a great time at Especially For Youth with Krystin, Keaton and other new friends last week.  I'm grateful our kids are getting to know their cousins, and cousins, and cousins,  They seem to discover more of them after every conference or even party.

Krystin is the Canadian Coordinator for EFY (Especially For Youth).   She has one more week to go then she gets a good night's sleep.  She is so good at this job.  She is funny, fun, creative, thoughtful, and very organized and everyone loves her.  Besides that, she always gives out good candy.  She has enjoyed having this as her summer job for the past few years.

Kyle graduated from the University of Calgary with a BA in International Relations.  They have been 'enjoying' our unfinished basement for a few months.  Kyle is working for the Alta. Government (well ... employed by..)  His contract is for another year.  They are excited to find their own Lillie Pad soon, I don't understand why, doesn't everyone want to live with their mother?  We love having them here, little Trenton is a joy, such a little boy.  He loves rocks and anything outside.  today he couldn't pull the pea pods off the plants, so he just stuck his face up to the plant and ate them off the vine.  Cute kid.  And, by the way, Nancie is a great cook.

We loved having a visit from Brian's brother Len, Jean and daughter Andrea (and fiance Ken). We will be going to Toronto for their wedding in October.  While they were here we went to Jasper, had lots of good family visit time and enjoyed lots of good food.  Nice people they are.   Brian and I have loved the daytime sunshine as we've had a few days off this past week.  We spent a day in Banff, then the Calgary Zoo with Kathryn, Colin, Brittany and Cambria after we picked Kathryn up from EFY.  Colin has felt cheated his whole life, that was his first visit there.  And he said it was for Cambria that we went..

We have had great visits with our families from time to time already this summer.  Great parties, food and company.  And,,, it is still the beginning of August, more summer to come (if it ever stops raining).  However, we do have fabulous grass in our yard, I actually sat on it once this month and the mosquitos didn't carry me away.  They are back now though, the dragonflies need to come eat them.
So, enough of this, that is us in a nutshell.  We look forward to another great month,

Myrna
